CURRENT JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Sheriff, Deputy

Salary – Minimum $36,536 - $54,382 annually

Sheriff, Deputy in this class is a sworn officer responsible for providing law enforcement services with Fulton County to prevent crimes, preserve the peace, and make security to County buildings and other public areas, including courtrooms and detention areas; processing and securing inmates at the Fulton County Jail; transporting inmates; or serving warrants as assigned. Sheriff, Deputy is authorized to use deadly force when necessary.

Experience & Training:Completion of course work equivalent to the academic requirements of an Associate's Degree, or two (2) years work experience as a law enforcement or certified peace officer with full arrest power; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those above.

Licensing requirements: Valid State of Georgia driver's license, Georgia POST Certification (to be obtained within six (6) months of employment), and Jailer Certification Course. (Fulton County Detention Officers may exchange four (4) years of service and successful completion of Georgia POST for the educational requirement for Sheriff, Deputy.)

 

Detention Officer

Salary – Minimum $33,058 - $50,371 annually

Detention Officers in this class performs duties related to monitoring inmates, screening inmate visitation, and securing detention facilities. Responsibilities include supervising inmate work details, generating reports maintaining records, and assisting Sheriff, Deputies in transporting inmates to various facilities.

Experience & Training:  Completion of course work equivalent to the academic requirements of a High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, and one (1) year experience performing public safety, security, corrections, or customer service duties; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those above.

Licensing requirements: Valid State of Georgia driver's license, and Jail Officer training certification issued through the Georgia POST.

 

Records & Documents Specialist (Civilian position)

Salary - Minimum $26,546 - $45,952

Records & Documents Specialist in this class performs duties related to conducting a variety of moderately complex records maintenance activities for an assigned department. Responsibilities include performing data entry in specialized programs; composing and editing correspondence; correcting information on records and files, and performing complex searches for data, records, and files.

Experience & Training:Completion of course work equivalent to the academic requirements of a High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, and two (2) years administrative or recordkeeping experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully performing the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing requirements: Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) certification (as required by position assignment), Notary Public certification issued by the Clerk of Superior Court (within county of residence - as required by position assignment), and Affirmation as a sworn Deputy Clerk of the Court (to be obtained within one (1) month of employment - as required by position assignment).
